City council reviews year plan with statewide project submissions and street work. Budget details list sidewalk, road, fence, irrigation, and cemetery items totaling about 160 800 dollars. Members discuss Old Folks party funding, culvert replacement, school irrigation, water rates, and dog control measures.
Alpine district high schools staged Around the World in Music with performances by Lehi Lincoln Pleasant Grove and American Folk groups. Indians Puritans Negroes and color guards joined final rendition of America under supervision of E A Beck and A P Warnick Ruby Williams.
The P. G. team hung with Lehi in a 32 to 26 overtime win after a 24 24 deadlock. Lehi guard Roberts sparked the finish with three quick baskets in the extra period, as Warburton sealed it with a final score. The league resumes tonight with P. G. at Lincoln.
Pleasant Grove residents host quilting gatherings and Mother’s Club events. The Timpanogos stake plans temple excursion and local families visit, travel, and celebrate birthdays. Scouts, plays, and club meetings fill weekly social calendar amid illness updates and marriages.
The Timpanogos Stake M I A announces a change from Wednesday evening to the fourth Sunday afternoon at 2 pm for monthly meetings. Officers and teachers in the stake M I A are asked to take notice.
Early Wednesday a grey Ford drove to the Ampco Service Station and stole 30 gallons of gas by breaking the lock and damaging the hose. Night Watchman Gardiner saw the car leave but could not get the plate number and no further blue has been found.
Former Pleasant Grove residents Mr and Mrs Soren Sorenson marked their 60th wedding anniversary at Bingham on Saturday. Married February 2, 1885, they are parents of four children Jess of Long Beach Vern and Duane Sorenson Veda McLaughlin Bertha Deveraux Flora McDonald and Lucy Larson with twenty five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The stake presidency high councilmen bishops and counselors high priests quorum officials stake and ward clerks and partners will host their annual social Monday evening at the Manila ward amusement hall at 8 o clock. A program lunch and dancing are features of the evening.
Windsor ward bishopric and Boy Scout leaders and their wives hosted a banquet and program Thursday evening for mothers and fathers of the ward’s scouts. More than 150 people attended the affair.
Frederick Fowlke aged 68 died February 1 at his brother Ernest's home in Windon from a heart attack while on an errand. Born in Lindon December 3, 1867, he had been in poor health. Funeral services were held in the Lindon ward chapel with Bishop Charles J. Cobbley directing. A series of musical numbers and speakers followed, with interment at Pleasant Grove cemetery.
Funeral services were held at the Timpanogos stake tabernacle for Jens Monson who died in Salt Lake City on January 30 after a period of illness. The Manila ward bishopric directed the service with H V Swenson conducting. Speakers included James H Clarke American Fork stake president W W Warnick and L M Atwood with H V Swenson giving closing remarks. A Beatrice Monson read a life sketch and music included Rock of Ages and That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The Pleasant Grove library reports 1934 circulation of 20 069 with adult 8402, children 7513, magazines 4061, scout manuals 83. New cards issued 170 and 84 books added, 54 donated. Rentals include The Everlasting Whisper and several titles by Mulford Curwood and Raine. Hoover’s Conquest of Liberty received. children’s titles donated by Mrs Walker. Jens Monson funeral attended by Salt Lake City visitors.
The Old Folks of Pleasant Grove will gather February 12 at the Timpanogos Stake tabernacle for a 11 a.m. assembly, a brief program, a noon banquet, and an afternoon program. About 175 guests include widows and widowers, missionaries wives, stake leaders, bishops and their wives, ward clerks and high councilmen with their wives.
The Timpanogos Stake M. L. A. will host a Gold and Green Ball at the High School Gym on Friday February 22. Ward attendance will select the queen from the Gleaner Girls with training for the role. A court ceremony crowns the queen, with a Waltz quadrille and Merry Widow dance performed by older and younger groups respectively.
The Second ward Boy Scouts held a social in the ward amusement hall honoring 18 scouts. A program with games and refreshments followed. Organizers included Dr. O Jensen S A Kirk Anton Gleason and J Kemp.
Contests were held Friday in preparation for the high school speaking contest at Weber Junior College on February 16. School representatives include Al fred Dexter Dan Smith for oration and Jennie Howe for extemporaneous speaking. Kayle Linebaugh Rex Gourley won the extemporaneous contest but cannot attend due to a basketball game.
Water users may inspect and correct errors in the 1935 irrigation schedule at a Pleasant Grove City Council meeting on Thursday February 14, 1995 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The notice is issued by City Council authority and signed by Recorder S LeGrande White.
Ten Years Ago Now recalls Pleasant Grove events from February 12 gatherings with a ward entertainment and a noon dinner. Dairymen form a Pleasant Grove Manila dairy unit with officers L M Atwood Lewis Peterson L P Harvey Dan Adams and Reed Warnick. Three wards honor Russell Swenson and Emmett Hayes returning from missions in Germany. Lenard Miller welcomed a baby girl and Elder Theron Whitely left for mission field. Anna Fugal marks sixth birthday with a party for eighteen friends.
