Snow measurements taken Jan 29 30 at Payson Ranger Station Beaver Creek Soxostona Thint Lelie rine Daniels Strawberry Snow Courses and Timp Divide Camp Altamont South Fork Timp Cave show a high water content 121 percent of last year and an 8 percent increase at Daniels Strawberry compared with Feb 1 last year. DeWitt Grandy Keith Bardell Stanley Peterson and Dew Hansen conducted the surveys.
The annual Pathers and Sons banquet of the Timpanogos District Boy Scouts of America will be held tonight February 7 at the Timpanogos State House. more than 800 are expected to attend with guests including W W Chyde and Floyd Loveridge. Mayor Edward Robertson warned Wednesday that abandonment of the Power and Light Co plant at Battle Creek Canyon mouth creates a water management problem for Pinnanut Grove. New intake methods must divert irrigation and culinary waste to the canyon mouth, avoiding the old creek bed due to rock and snow slides. Attorney Heber Grant Ivins studies legal options and will guide procedures. City officials should seek a joint solution with Irrigation Co once facts are known. Council discussed street construction plans for spring and summer, aiming to surface about five miles of city streets. Homeowners may petition for curb, gutter, or sidewalls. Sorensen noted which streets will be improved this year. Councilman John Green authorized purchasing one acre of land near Wright Packing to house city equipment sheds and facilities.

Fifty two Alpine School District students will present a television program over KSL TV this Sunday February 10 at 12 noon. The series Next Assignment from the Utah Department of Public Instruction will showcase foreign language teaching. Elementary and junior high students from Alpine American Park Lehi and Pleasant Grove will be represented demonstrating Spanish instruction through conversation narration demonstrations and song. Elliot C Howes supervisor of junior high schools and foreign language leads the show assisted by Edwin T Taylor Rulon Brimhall and Kay Moon.
Principal Lucan Johnson spoke at the Pleasant Grove area PTA Council meeting at Grovecrest School. He cited Utah Legislature bills affecting education, notably increasing classroom funding from 4050 to 5100 a unit, and urged legislators to boost school funding amid Alpine District backlogs. Other topics covered included council by laws, polls, the State Convention in Provo, and Exceptional School needs. The next meeting is set for March 6 at 1 am.
Pleasant Grove High School hosts Region VII wrestling tournament actions tonight with preliminary rounds at 1 30 pm and main rounds at 7 pm under coach Ned Alger. Admission is 50 cents for adults and invites the public to attend the event featuring local wrestlers Kehi Areshan Burk and Plons wt Grove among others.
Leo P. Harvey a Pleasant Grove farmer was elected president of the Utah County Canning Crops Growers Association at a Wednesday meeting in Provo held at the City and County Building. Also chosen were M. R. Davis as vice president and John Gillman as secretary treasurer, with a board including Gillman Davis Yukus Ineyue Milford Bredges.
