Pleasant Grove's Police Department reports 16 accidents over three weeks two non reportable two with minor injuries four people injured total property damage about 7850 dollars multiple incidents show ongoing mischief and law breaking in the community.
The Pacesetter announces Mark J Emerson of Pleasant Grove will join the sales department of the P.G. store while attending BYU. He will take on full time management duties after graduation and the store plans to open Store No 3 at University Mall in Orem on March 7.
Pleasant Grove High School hosts Indian Week activities with costumes dress up day panels and a Friday Pow Wow. Notable guests Miss Indian America Miss Indian Princess and Miss Indian BYU attended an Indian Seminar. The Eagle's Bed presentation runs Thursday and Friday at the American Folk High School.
Pleasant Grove High School invites former students patrons and friends to an open house in the library on Wednesday Feb 7 from 7 to 10 p.m. Paintings donated by several individuals will be shown memorial plaques listed for gifts to the library. Donations of materials and overdue books are welcome with a follow up event Thursday and Friday evenings. Indian Production tickets are 1.00 for students 1.25 for adults special family rates available via Mrs Mark Bezzant.
Pleasant Grove native Lucile P Hillman wins the Utah Associated Garden Clubs Service Award for 1972. She served since 1954 with the Pleasant Grove Garden Club and held multiple offices including president in 1970 while contributing to local shade tree projects and garden spaces. Proceeds fund Indian Scholarship Funds at P G High School.
The Utah County Farm Bureau Winter Convention will be held February 16 at 10:00 am at the Palmyra Stake Center in Spanish Fork. The program includes water resources talks by Dan Lawrence and Herbert Lamber, and a Utah State Extension Service presentation on safe food. A Farm Bureau Women session, a noon banquet, and a contest event are planned with tickets available from local presidents.
The Utah County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner is set for February 7 1973 at 7 30 p.m. at the Eldred Center Provo. William Ruckelshaus director of the EPA will be guest speaker. Tickets from Donald Frazier Pleasant Grove Precinct Chairman.
John Barnard of Logan Utah State University Extension dairyman and UPDCA secretary announced awards at the annual UPDCA Dairy Breeds Organizations meeting at Blue Ox Cafe Roy. Mr and Mrs C J Smoot Ogden Mr and Mrs Edgar Smoot Centerville and Mr and Mrs Charles Warnick Pleasant Grove received honors for service to the association. A special award for service to the Purebred Dairy Breeders went to Lynn Adiar Salt Lake City farm director KSL Radio. Elections named Glen Brown Coalville president UPDCA and Utah State Holstein Assoc Jim Knight Farmington president Utah Jersey Cattle Club C J Smoot Ogden Utah State Guernsey Assoc and Mrs Kent Chugg Pleasant View president UPDCA Dairy Wives.
Local Lions Club members plan the State Mid-Winter Banquet and Convention in Salt Lake City on February 9 and 10. The event highlights social activities and reviews Lions Clubs efforts in sight conservation and service projects. Utah assembly will hear progress on hearing conservation with Tris Coffin of Montreal as keynote speaker.
Viking wrestlers travel to Uintah to face the Utes in a key Region VI duel that could decide the league title. Pleasant Grove and Uintah sit atop Region VI at 5 0, with Pleasant Grove having recent wins but a tough road ahead. Readouts include matches from 100 to 187 pounds with pins and decisions by Haynie Faux Bratt Colton Pack Swenson and others.
Pleasant Grove Garden Club held its first meeting of the year at Mrs. Thorne Smith's home. Kenneth Gillman spoke on water conservation and regional projects. Awards were presented to members including Mrs. Lucille Hillman and Velma Gillman, with a tour planned of a local terminal water plant and refreshments served.
