Rain Storm Ends January Drought in Pleasant Grove Area

A rain storm changing to snow broke the late January dry spell in Pleasant Grove during the seven day period ending 6 p.m. Monday January 29. Total precipitation was under a quarter inch with mild daytime temperatures and only a few frosty nights. Groundhog Day approaches as forecasts predict light rain or snow tapering by Thursday. Weekly stats show 0.20 inches of precipitation for the period and 0.54 inches since January 1.

Rampton to Visit Pleasant Grove Friday Afternoon

Governor Calvin L. Rampton will be in Pleasant Grove Friday February 2 at 3 p m for a 15 minute city hall meeting with officials. He will then hold a 15 minute session from 3 15 to 3 30 for private citizens with special problems. Citizens may attend but should bring real issues.

Pleasant Grove Library Receives Gift Funds New Books

The Pleasant Grove Public Library adds 19 new books funded by a $50 donation from the Cadmus Club. Librarian Drucilla Smith notes strong use of the library and thanks the donors as the city council was informed of the purchase. New titles include Uncle Tom's Cabin replacement and several children's and teen books.

Silver Lake Dam Construction Plans Move Forward

The Silver Lake Flat Dam project in North Fork American Fork Canyon advances as the North Utah County Conservancy District signs with the FHA. A $241,045 FHA payment toward a $600,000 project is paired with Soil Conservation Service and local districts funding. Bids will be let when weather allows, with two to three years of construction ahead.
