Second Ward Installs New Electric Organ Show

The Second Ward opens a public program next Sunday featuring Glen Pratt of the Temple in Salt Lake City. Provo Road Contract To Be Let In Near Future

Notification that a widening project for Highway 91 from Pleasant Grove to Provo will be let soon was shared with Pleasant Grove and Orem officials, Utah County commissioners, and planning and state road officials in Provo. Officials cited rising county traffic and forecast to need another county road within years, noting a 75 percent traffic rise since 1840 and a 12 percent gain over last year.

Murphy Family to Move Back to Quanah Texas

Mr and Mrs Claude Murphy and their two daughters plan to leave on September 1 to return to their former home in Quanah Texas. This week Mrs Murphy was praised at a dinner at Vernals Cafe then joined friends at W R Slaton home for bridge with Thelma Miller first prize and B Dunitle second prize. Virginia Hunter won bingo. The Ace High Bridge club met Tuesday evening with Mrs Mona Faye Murphy. After a luncheon, Dorothy Iverson won first prize, Mattie Steele second, and Hunice Watkins the bingo prize. Former Pleasant Grove resident dies at Magna

Thomas Wilson age 65 long time Pleasant Grove resident died Friday at his Garfield home after a long illness. Born March 7, 1888 in Almy Wyoming he and his family moved to Pleasant Grove. He married Eva Thor and later moved to Garfield where he worked as a millman. Survived by his widow Ruth, daughter Florence Jerome and son Roy Wilson among 12 grandchildren and 5 sisters. Funeral at Garfield LDS ward chapel with Bishop Loren Poulson officiating followed by burial in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.

Lyman Robertson Arrives From Denmark By Plane

Lyman Robertson arrived home Tuesday by plane from Denmark where he has served 16 months in the LDS mission. Elder Robertson was met at Salt Lake City airport by his mother and grandfather James Peterson, while Bilder Hanson, released due to illness, accompanied another returning missionary and was met by his Rexburg, Idaho, parents.

Collision Injures Two Elderly Local People

Two Pleasant Grove residents were injured Monday at 7 45 p m when the car they rode in collided with another auto at the Glia and U S 91 intersection. Archie Maxfield 71 and wife Mary Gleason Maxfield 72 were hospitalized with a severe shock head injuries and a fractured kneecap while Olin T Oliver 39 of Bluff San Juan County escaped injury.

Five Miles Of City Streets To Be Resurfaced

Five miles of Pleasant Grove city streets will be resurfaced this fall after a City Council decision led by Mayor Harvey W. Smith. Officials said the streets, aired years ago, are badly in need of resurfacing and reworking would cost thousands if delayed. The council will use all funds allotted for 1048 49 to complete the project, viewing it as a sound investment for road repair.

Pleasant Grove held a William Adams family reunion with members from Idaho and Emery County. Alma Jewkes, 92, was the eldest. A 4 PM dinner, program at 7 PM in the Second Ward chapel featured musical numbers and history from Evelyn Robbins and Joseph Adams. Engagement Announced For Margaret Adams Thorne
