Timpanogos Dairy Team Heads to Kansas City Contest

The Timpanogos chapter of Future Homemakers of America returned from the Utah State P F A convention in Logan with eleven members and advisor Joseph Day. Dairy team member Jim Macfarlane led dairy judging with high marks among 300 judges, earning a purebred Guernsey calf and medal. Gorton Wright was named outstanding judge. Russell Nielsen and Jim Macfarlane served as delegates. other honors included plaques for the high school and team members Richard Swenson Sean Harvey Glen Nielsen and others.

Leh man to speak on Book of Mormon authenticity

John Hutchings of Leh will address the Third ward Sunday services on outward evidences of the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. The project has been delayed, with hope of realizing this end, according to Mayor Lycan Johnson.

Story Hour a Success in Grove on August Twenty Fourth

The last Story Hour of the sea theme drew 201 attendees in the Grove Tuesday evening August 24. Younger groups heard Lil Napoleon and the Watermill on the Water, Little Brown Bear, The Little Chick s That Stayed Up Too Late, while older groups were told The Salve Tooth Slayer and The Substitute Pupil. Double Funeral Services Held For Couple

In Windsor ward on Thursday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Marrett of Powell Wyoming, former Windsor residents, were buried after a head-on collision in Wyoming. Bishop Stanley B Harris led the service with Eldon Swenson conducting. A series of musical numbers and speeches followed, ending with interment at Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Funeral Services For John Steiner

Funeral services for John Ernest Steiner aged 68, formerly of the Lindon ward, were held at the Timpanoogas Stake Tabernacle after his death in Ocean Park California. W W Warnick, David P Black, David F Rowley, Albert J Culimore and Bishop Leonard Walker spoke. The service featured Singing Mothers and organ music, with grave services by Benjamin Walker at American Folk cemetery. Steiner, born May 30 1869 in Switzerland, came to Utah at age five and is survived by his wife Luella Porter Steiner and eight children, plus two sisters and a brother and twenty three grandchildren.

Christensen Stores Moves Into Thornton Mercantile

Christensen's, Inc. purchased the Thornton Mercantile property after moving in August 22. They plan a new storefront soon and expanded stock to improve merchandise space. A farewell testimonial for Cyril J. Thorne, bound for an L. D. B mission to Great Britain, is set for September 3 at the Fourth Ward chapel. Pleasant Grove relatives are invited. A Primary Stake Board meeting is scheduled for September 2 at the stake office.

Cemetery Cleaned By 24 Men In Community Effort

Sexton Martin Peterson led a crew of 24 workers last week to weed and remove rubbish from the cemetery. The effort greatly improved the appearance of the sacred site, reflecting community care and respect.

Tennis champions Brinley Linebaugh win junior title
