Babe Injured In Accident Near Olsen Corner

11 month old Lyman Nielsen, son of Mr and Mrs George Nielsen, was cut about the head and required 27 stitches after a collision on a secondary state highway Thursday evening. Ernest Wilson of American Fork drove into the Nielsen car. both vehicles suffered damage. After two days in the hospital the baby was well enough to go home.

Temple endowment excursion planned for Timpano fos Stake

The Timpano fos Stake will schedule a temple endowment excursion on Thursday, August 12. Sidney B. Sperry of Brigham Young University will speak at the Third Ward Sunday evening, with the ward Sunday School directing. Sperry, noted for travel in Palestine, is considered an excellent speaker. The ward Primary will provide a reading and musical number. All stake members are invited. Relief Society meetings for ward work and business are set for Tuesday, August 10.

Band Concert At Pleasant Grove Draws Local Audience

Mr. Irvin Jensen directed the Pleasant Grove Band in a Thursday evening concert at The Grove. William West on trumpet with Louise West, Virginia Jacobs singing soprano, and Eugene Lee with a bass solo accompanied by Jensen showcased several well-rendered numbers. John R Nelson 49 died at home after 36 years of rheumatism. Born July 7 188? in Byirod Sweden he moved to Pleasant Grove in 1894 with Latter-day Saint parents. A longtime state statistician and district registration agent he lived with his father after his mother’s death. He preferred reading writing and hands on work. Survived by brothers Anna s Nelson Milding J Nelson and Effie Blackhurst. Funeral set for Thursday at the Stake Tabernacle.

Home burglarized as occupants return home

The Floyd residence was found burglarized late in the week after residents returned. Entry was gained by breaking a window, a hole large enough for a hand to reach and unlock the door. Several items including two men's hats and women's clothing were reported missing.

Annual Sunset Rally At Manila Ward Grounds

Sunset Rally attracted about 290 attendees at the Manila ward grounds. Warrick Swenson, VM MLA president, welcomed guests and offered the theme God Gave us Mountains and Strength to Climb. The stake double mixed quartet conducted by Reva West Fugu sang two numbers including Mountains. Roy Passey gave the opening prayer and Willian West performed Maid of the Mist on cornet. Dr. Franklin Harris, president of the B, spoke on the theme Uy.

County Home Science Club Delegates Chosen for Provo Meeting

The event Tuesday evening at Miss Verna Day's home selected Mary Ja West and Florence Jensen as delegates to attend a Provo meeting on August 10 to plan the closing county home science outing. The rest of the evening was spent cutting and pasting in scrapbooks. The Home Science Club met Friday at Mrs. Lorena Warnick's home for a lesson on selecting material for scrapbooks. The Junior Variety Club met Tuesday afternoon at Irene and Marilyn Warnick's home with Loraine Swenson leading a dancing lesson and music appreciation, followed by records on the Victor home phonograph and refreshments by Erma Atwood and Mrs. Warnick.
