Steelmark Days planned across Utah County towns

In a Provo meeting involving 37 business and civic leaders from nine Utah Valley communities and Steel officials, a three day Steelmark Days festival is planned for early fall. The event will feature parades contests street banners and special attractions centered on steelmaking towns and the Sterkmark symbol.

Ollivier Family Returns From West Coast Visit

Mr and Mrs J F Ollivier and daughters Jane and Ann return Tuesday from a weeklong West Coast trip visiting Monteney relatives and Joe Ollivier stationed at Fort Ord. They traveled via San Francisco along the coast highway and learned of Steelmark Days and U S Steel promotions aimed at expanding steel markets with local events and Steel Hour appearances planned for Utah Valley communities.

Weather week ends Monday August 1 shows seven days with a trace or more of moisture totaling 0.13 inch. High reached 102 on July 26, cooler later with 85 on July 31. July 26 also produced the all time high. Measurable rain occurred on three days. dog days expected first half of August.

Reva Linebaugh Funeral Services Set for Saturday

Funeral services for Reva Olive Jense Linebaugh are planned for Saturday at 10 am in the Tim panogos Stake House under Bishop Vilace Rad mall. She died Tuesday at the American Tork Hospital of a heart ailment at age 44. She married Dr. B C Linebaugh Dee in 1937 in Salt Lake City and is survived by her husband two sons and three daughters plus brothers and sisters in Pleasant Grove Provo and Salt Lake area with several stepsiblings. burial will be in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.

Consolidated to Erect Water Pipe Coating Pilot Plant

A research pilot plant for coating inside and outside water pipes will be built at the Utah Pipemill near Pleasant Grove. Construction starts immediately and should finish by November. About five engineers and researchers will be employed. the plant already produces water pipe from 4 to 124 inches and has dipping and wrapping facilities.

Funeral rites set for Friday for Dewey Adamson

Funeral services for Dewey Adamson will be held at 10 am Friday in the Third Sheh Wield Chapel under the Third Ward Bishopric. He died Tuesday at 62 from a heart attack at work in Heber. He was born July 1 1898 in Piowsant Grove, son of Thomas and Eilen Bullock Adamson, and lived in Pleasant Grove. He worked 80 years in sheep farming and 12 years for the Utah State Road Commission. He married Mai Grahas October 19 1919 in Bieter dasid. He is survived by his wife and several sons and daughters in Seattle, Lanesstey, Pleasant Grove, and other locales, plus 13 grandchildren. Funeral callers may visit Olpin Sundberg Mortuary Thursday 7-9 pm and Friday prior to services. Grove cemetery.

Wasps Clinch Pioneer League Title With Big Win

The Wasps claimed Pleasant Grove's Pioneer Little League championship by routing the Hornets 27 to 1 in the final game. Pitcher Jay Woffinden starred, yielding one run with several strikeouts, while Curt Shifrer and Gregory Spenwerk led the Hornets’ offense with a home run and a triple. Civil action and a dismissal completed the heavy calendar while police activity showed varied investigations from family trouble to dog incidents and prowler reports across the city.

Eddie Lewis, a 1960 Peasant Grove High School graduate, received a $2,000 four year National Health Foundation scholarship to attend the University of Utah Medical School. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Bill Lewis of this city. The grant is renewable after two years of pre medical study with a higher stipend.
