County Daughters of Pioneers Enjoy Outing at Grove City Park

Daughters from Grove City, Linden, and surrounding areas gathered for the annual summer outing of the County Daughters of Pioneers. The program featured solos, readings, a costume skit, and musical performances, with Mrs. Sarah Rampton and Mrs. Brown among presenters, and Russell Hales leading several acts.

Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Beck and Mr. and Mrs. Renes Olpin recount a Chicago World's Fair visit. They tour the Administration building Avenue of Flags and lighting effects, view the Habo 100 foot thermometer, and inspect automaker displays. They also visit the travel building, various national pavilions, and sites in St. Louis and Springfield, calling the trip the most interesting event of their lives.

Pleasant Grove First Ward Delights in Mutual Dell Outing

Pleasant Grove First Ward members enjoyed a three day outing at Mutual Dell on July 27 28 and 29 featuring hiking baseball and volleyball. Pleasant Grove Takes League Lead With Lehi Win

Pleasant Grove moved into first in the Central Utah League by defeating Lehi 10 to 2 on the Lehi diamond. Heber improved to 0.500 with a 16 to 6 win over American Fork at Saratoga. Pleasant Grove visits Orem on Saturday and Payson next Wednesday.

Camp F-5 Deer Creek camp houses 200 C C C men

The Deer Creek camp in American Fork canyon houses 200 men mainly from Salt Lake and Utah counties. W. Stevens is general superintendent. They host a strong recreational program with bands and choruses, outdoor activities until evening, lectures from state speakers, and ongoing construction including Forest Ranger lodge additions and a Trail from Granite Flat to Box Elder canyon for flood control.

Barber Arrested for Possession of Liquor

Marshall A. R. Winters and Night Watchman Heber Gardiner arrested Abel Nielson on a possession charge Wednesday evening at 10 p.m. A search warrant from Justice of the Peace J. O. Clark allowed the barber shop to be searched. Fourteen pints of Mexican whiskey were found. Nielson was placed under arrest and later released on bond. Hearing had not been set yesterday morning.

Larsen Olpin Engagement Planned for August

Miss Cynthis Larsen and Lawrence Olpin announce their engagement. Miss Larsen taught four years in Alpine District schools after attending B Y U. Mr Olpin, a B Y U alumnus who served a Holland mission, studies architecture at Columbia University. They plan to marry mid August and move to New York in September for further studies.

Marriage of Yvonne Hooley and Elmer Jones

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hooley announce the marriage of their daughter Yvonne to Elmer Jones of Orem. The ceremony took place at the Hooley home on July 28 and was performed by Bishop Stanley B. Harris of the Windsor ward. The couple and guests were on a trip to the World’s Fair and eastern cities prior to the ceremony.

Funeral Services Held for Alfred J. Harvey

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Third Ward chapel for Alfred Jonathan Harvey who died Saturday. Interment followed in City cemetery with grave dedication by M. S. Christiansen. Surviving are brothers John and Bruce Harvey and sisters Mrs. Mary Mercer Mrs. Nettie Johnson and Mrs. Maggie Holman.
