Lindon City Council passed an ordinance April 20 1970 to regulate garbage collection disposal and charges. The city will bill for service every two months with a basic $1.50 monthly fee for residents and variable charges for businesses based on waste volume. Garbage pickup occurs weekly with options for more frequent service if needed.
Twelve lovely and talented young ladies seek glory in the Pleasant Grove Jaycees pageant set for May 2 at 8 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove High School auditorium. Final four include Marilyn Judd Marsha Hardy Jannifer Nielsen and Carol Johnson with diverse talents and extensive LDS Church involvement.
Vera Conder was named an Outstanding Counselor for Utah for the 1909 70 school year at the Utah School Counselors Association meeting in Park City. She has served at Pleasant Grove High School as teacher and counselor, with principal John Gourley praising her dedication and character.
For two months Pleasant Grove Seminary students formed six member teams per class to compete in Seminary Bowl events. Local seminary champions faced Utah Valley rivals in the April 18 contest across Book of Mormon Old Testament New Testament and Church History categories.
District Manager C R Lomax announced a Were You Counted campaign as the 1970 Census nears completion. Residents who believe they were missed should contact the census district office in Orem at 225 7940 or return the form printed in daily newspapers.
About 900 members of Manila Ward were split last Sunday night at a special ward conference led by the Timpanogos Stake Presidency. Bishop David Harvey retained Manila Ward while Arvin Jay Hullinger was sustained as bishop of the new Manila Second Ward. various counselors and clerks were also named.
Three Geneva Works employees representing the Utah National Guard join Governor Calvin Rampton to open Geneva Works 1970 U S Savings Bond Campaign. The drive runs May 4 to 9 with local dignitaries invited and a Hill AFB jet flyover.
