Chinese Articles Shown At School Exhibit

Over two weeks Central school displayed Chinese clothing and artifacts loaned by Mrs. Millie Paulson. She spoke to students about customs and uses of the items, with collection sent by her brother Harold Robinson, a former government worker in China. The exhibit was organized by Mrs. Vera Wagstaff in the second grade to enrich lessons on Chinese life.

City Treasurer Sets Up Office in New City Hall

Beginning Saturday April 27 the office of City Treasurer Delilah Pugal will be housed in the new civic building on Main street and no business will be handled at her home. Office hours are 2 to 5 pm every Wednesday and Saturday and on the tenth eleventh twenty fifth and twenty sixth of each month to suit residents who receive pay checks on those days.

Manila Ward Reunion Honors Annie Olsen and Birthday

Funeral services for Annie Lundquist Olsen were held in Manila with Bishop H V Swenson in charge. The Manila ward reunion followed the birthday celebration with a decorated cake and souvenirs for 240 attendees from nearby towns. Joseph Halliday, age 90, recalled Manila’s early days as the ward’s oldest resident and descendant of its founders.

Local Students In Y Orchestra Shine In Spring Programs

Pleasant Grove students Marilyn Richards Ramona Monson LaVerle Neves Winona Monson and Lola Jensen play in Brigham Young University Symphony Orchestra. On March 14 the 90 piece ensemble performed before 2000 at Provo Stake Tabernacle led by Rudolph Gans. Easter morning world wide broadcast featured the BYU orchestra with a 160 voice mixed chorus. The orchestra toured southern Idaho during April 8 to 13 visiting schools colleges and public programs.
