Community Problems Make Extra Session for City Fathers

The City Fathers held a reg ular session to address community business. It was the third council meeting in three weeks with all members present except Walter Reimschussel. High school students Keith Walker and Richard Gardiner met with the council. Mayor Cook reported requesting Guy Hillman, high school instructor.

Captain Paul Millar serves LDS leader in Vietnam

Captain Paul R. Millar of Pleasant Grove serves as lay religious leader for a 30 member Latter day Saints congregation at Cam Ranh Bay Vietnam while assigned to the 483rd Combat Support Group He will complete his tour in August He is the son of Mr and Mrs Harvey C Millar of Pleasant Grove His wife Shirley stays with his parents and presides over the YWMIA ward in Pleasant Grove during his absence.

SOAR Project Ready To Go For This Saturday

Reminder to young men aged 14 to 18 that the SOAR project kicks off Saturday April 24 at 9 30 a m. Meet at the junior high track to repair the ball field backstop and bleachers with city recreation. Bring a rake or paint brush. In case of rain the event may be postponed.

Garden Club Honors Karl Banks With Tree Planting Saturday

Pleasant Grove Garden Club to plant two Linden trees in honor of Karl Banks at Veterans Park this Saturday April 24 at 11 am. Mayor Jack E. Cook and city officials will attend a short program. A plaque will be added later. The event invites public attendance and encourages Arbor Day tree plantings.

Dr Darwin F Gale director of special education at Brigham Young University will be guest speaker at the Valley View PTA on Thursday April 29 at 7 30 p m. He speaks on Am I Doing My Part as a Parent to Raise a Responsible Citizen. Parents of Valley View children and others are invited.

Francis Urry to Speak at Fireside This Saturday

Francis Urry, noted radio TV and motion picture actor, will speak at a Fireside gathering on Saturday night at 7 30 p m in the Pleasant Grove Stake House. The event, sponsored by the Seventh and Eighth Ward Sunday School classes, will also feature a musical presentation by Spencer McMullin and invites parents and students ages 15 to 18 to attend.

Four More Strwaberry Days Queen Candidates Named

Four more of the 13 candidates for the Strawberry Days Queen contest are profiled in the Review with five remaining to be shown next week. Derek Spriggs of BYU Drama will MC the May 1 event. Scholarships totaling 1000 from Paras-All Models of Salt Lake City reward the two royal titles and attendants.

Warren R. Hayden Promoted in U S Air Force

Warren R. Hayden, son of Mrs. Reed B. Newman of Pleasant Grove, has been promoted to major in the U S Air Force. He serves as chief of safety for the 64th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron at Andersen AFB Guam and holds the aeronautical rating of senior pilot. He and his wife Margene and three children reside on Guam. His mother said the family will visit Utah for a month in August before a new assignment is announced.

Utah Girls Staters Attend Silver Tea Saturday

The 25th anniversary Silver Tea for the American Legion and Utah Girls State program will be held at the Governor's Mansion 1270 Fairfax Road Salt Lake City from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. All past Girls State citizens and this year's delegates are invited.

Central Lindon and Valley View Plan to Register

Registration for kindergarten at Central, Linden, and Valley View elementary schools will be held in late April. Central and Linden host registrations on Friday April 23 at 2 p.m. in the lunchroom, Valley View on Wednesday April 28 at 1 p.m. Parents must bring birth certificates and meet age requirements by October 31, 1971.
