Belliston Chairs Study Council For Alpine School Needs

Gerald Belliston elected chairman of a five member executive panel to study Alpine School District needs. Members include Karl Banks as secretary Daphne Westover as vice president Elon Johnson and Elowie Adamson. They will form three citizen committees to examine redistricting local board representation school building tax levies and housing facilities at Pleasant Grove High and Central Elementary. The effort follows a March meeting called by Mayor W Robert Marrett.

Pleasant Grove High to host Alpine vocal festival

Pleasant Grove High School will host the Alpine Division regional vocal festival involving Pleasant Grove American Folk Lehi and Lincoln Provo High School. BYU will participate in the Neho group. The event features large group glee and mixed choirs with junior high soloists and ensembles. Harvey Rawlinson directs the Pine District band contest with 44 band members and six others competing.

Mothers Study Club Hosts Notable BYU Talent Evening

The Mothers Study Club held a Thursday program at Mrs. Harl A Becks featuring BYU musicians Andrea Dotson Dixie Mecham and John Corey. Miss Dotson played piano with Louise Marsden. Gordon Childs and Douglas accompanied. Mary Alice Calder read. Eva Adams led. A large audience enjoyed the event and a luncheon.

Garden Club invites public to Northern Utah County garden course

The Garden Club extends an invitation to a public seminar at American Park High School on April 19 at 9 30 a m. Mrs Claude Shields will discuss rose culture while M D Naylor presents Iris tips. Leon Fardbnet will cover landscaping and Dr Orvil Stark will talk fertilizer and pest control. Melda Patten will speak on lower arrangement. Fus Ray on planning. Mrs Stella Oaks of Provo will address Central School patrons on April 24. Friday marks third anniversary of TV in Pleasant Grove

The community observes the third anniversary of Television 1 Pleasant Grove on April 18 1982 with notes on early installations at 414 North 3rd East and the Howard Nelson residence. KDYL TV offered limited daily service years ago and future expansion is discussed amid FCC station allocations for Utah cities.

Oscar Winters of Pleasant Grove died Monday at 8 45 pm in Logan hospital after a two week illness. Born September 9 1864 in Pleasant Grove he lived in Ogden and Garland and served as Garland mayor and city councilman. He was a Bear River Stake high priest and taught in Garland Ward. Survived by his widow five sons and daughters and many grandchildren. Funeral Friday at Garland Second LDS Ward Chapel with burial in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.

Richland Couple to Wed in Salt Lake Temple

Barbara Clements of Richland Washington and Norman Wright plan marriage to be solemnized on Tuesday April 22 at the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The bride elect is daughter of Mr and Mrs S Clements. the groom is son of Mrs Oral and the late Clifford L Wright of Pleasant Grove. The couple will honeymoon in California following the ceremony.

Pleasant Grove Health Council urges residents lacking tetanus typhoid fever and small pox vaccines to attend clinics at city hall on April 23 30 and May 7 at 7 PM. Mabel Jones supervises with local physicians present. costs total 25 cents for typhoid three shots 60 cents for tetanus two shots and 15 cents for smallpox.

Pleasant Grove Athletes Honored at Ward Chapel Banquet

Pleasant Grove High School football and basketball players were honored at a Friday night banquet in First Ward Chapel. The Pep Club and girls athletic group sponsored the event with coaches Bil Smith Max Shifrer Guy Hillmann and Vera Conder speaking. Wilma Hales served as toast mistress. Grove Ward Building Committee catered. A BYU program with basketball and football films followed. About 70 boys, girls, and faculty attended.

Cadmus Club Plans Girls State Sponsorship and May Event

Cadmus Club members met at Winnifred Adamson's home for a regular meeting Monday evening. Lindon city recreation department hosted a successful Easter egg hunt last Saturday at the old church site with 200 colored eggs hid.
