Five PGHS Students Named Finalists In Sterling Scholar Awards
Five Pleasant Grove High School students become Sterling Scholar finalists Brett Bezzant in mathematics Douglas Hill in science Les Tippetts in art and craft Cindy Lindstrom in homemaking Jolene Harper in business education from over 430 nominees across 39 high schools. Each receives a Sterling Scholar pin and competes for cash awards scholarships totaling over 5000 dollars. Final judging April 18 at Cottonwood High will name one winner and two runners up per category. Winners get 250 dollars, runners up 100 dollars, plus tuition scholarships from Utah institutions. The 12 winners receive expense paid trips to the Gold Plate Awards in Chicago June 12 to 14, with results and coverage on KSL.

Opening Doors to Careers at Utah Tech Open House

Pleasant Grove Police Reports Two-Week Accidents and Arrests
Pleasant Grove police logged seven accidents including one reportable with two injuries totaling 36050 in damage. Nine juveniles were arrested for shoplifting petty theft no license and driving on suspension. John Charles Carson 51 was jailed Mar 18 for drunk driving with 299 bail forfeited. Larceny vandalism and petty theft incidents noted. Seven April court trials pending. Officials attended statewide crime conferences and discussed the new Criminal Code effective July 1 1973.

Tops Club Elects New Officers at Pleasant Grove Meeting
TOPS Chapter 44 met Monday at City Hall Pleasant Grove electing officers for the coming year. PGHS FFA Attends State Convention in Salt Lake City
PGHS Future Farmers of America attended the state convention last weekend in Salt Lake City. Meetings were held in the Terrace Ballroom and provided informative sessions on improving the FFA organization for 1973–74. Jon Bratt and David Illingsworth received their state former awards.
