Pleasant Grove High School PTSA selects Tuesday April 13 as A J Rogers Scholarship Fund Day. Students will contact households in Manila Pleasant Grove and Lindon to raise funds for a $10 000 endowment guaranteeing a yearly scholarship to a Pleasant Grove High School student.
Pleas ant Grove prepares for the 1971 Strawberry Days Queen pageant sponsored by the Jaycees with a Grecian themed program. Fourteen contestants compete for the crown on June 17 as Mrs Kenneth Unthank distributes entry blanks with a Saturday deadline of April 10.
The Pleasant Grove PTA Council has reorganized with Gayle Judd leaving as president to serve as Regional representative. Officers include Beth West as president Sandra Newman as 1st vice president and Beth Driggs as 2nd vice president.
The First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove announces a revival from April 11 to 18, 1971, with Reverend Thomas Littlejohn of Fort Worth as featured speaker. Services at 11 am and 7 pm on Sundays and 7 pm weekdays, at 340 East Center Street. Free nursery provided. all are invited.
The Pleasant Grove City Council met at city hall with full attendance to discuss a water improvement project led by city engineer Gilbert Horrocks. He noted ongoing H UD coordination and urged bidding publication and final plans for a 583000 dollar project. Also discussed were plans for a west city mobile home park, planning commission review, and Utah County senior citizen program recommendations.
The Timpanogos Stake Relief Society will hold a Stake Leadership meeting on Thursday April 15 at 10 a.m. at the Timpanogos Stake Center. Sixth Ward hosts with the theme The Home and will present a program. Nursery available and light refreshments afterward.
Lindon City with the Lindon Lions Club hosts the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Lindon City Park on Saturday morning April 10. Children ages 3 to 11 may collect up to one dozen eggs each. the hunt begins at 9 a.m. Lions Club members hide the eggs beforehand.
Four Pleasant Grove High School students advance to the Sterling Scholar finals at the University of Utah on April 7. The finalists are Deanne, Steve Allred, Leta L Smith, and Qubert Schow. At BYU on March 24 they presented portfolios of clippings, recommendations, awards and activities and were interviewed by field judges. Deanne is a semifinalist in business and is the daughter of Charles R Bob.
Snow survey data from Utah County reveal Payson Canyon at 118 percent of average with 51 inches snow and 19.7 inches water. Clear Creek Ridge No. 2 reports 118 percent. Timpanogos Divide 75 percent. Camp Altamont 57 percent. Dutchman Guard Station 80 percent. others range from 12 to 111 percent.
Final registration for Pony and Little League baseball will be held Tuesday April 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the basement of Pleasant Grove City. All new boys must present a birth certificate. Contact Gene Carter for Pony League and Jack W Taylor for Little League if you cannot attend.
Three Pleasant Grove High School junior girls will represent their school at American Legion Auxiliary Utah Girls State at the College of Southern Utah Cedar City June 8 to 12. Nominees Jeanne Walker Robyn Hilton daughter of Mr and Mrs Rob ert Hilton and Sharon Spencer daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Spencer were chosen for personality poise scholarship leadership potential and school participation. A tea marking the 25th anniversary of Girls State will be held at the Governor's Mansion Salt Lake City April 24 1971 from 2 to 4 pm attendance invited for past citizens and this year delegates.
