Spring runoff in American Fork Canyon faces flood risk due to a salt crust on the snow surface from a recent storm and unusually slow March melt. Principals Attend Convention in Spokane Washington

Principal Calvin Walker of Central School and Principal-elect Donna Ash of Grovecrest School left Salt Lake City for Spokane to attend the Regional Convention of the National Elementary Principals Association. The conference runs April 4 through 8 with Alpine District colleagues Thomas Larson and E A Beck among attendees. The group plans to return to their schools on Monday, April 1.

Alpine District to Explain Need for More Schools

Alpine School District plans public meetings to explain the need for a $2,950,000 bond for new school buildings amid sharp secondary enrollment growth. From 1928 to 1955 enrollments rose from 4,933 to 9,763, with projections showing 3,640 secondary students by 1965 and continued rapid population gains.

Stanley West of Pleasant Grove has joined Hiland Dairy as a retail venue salesman. He will deliver Bury products to homes in Pleasant Grove three days a week, Monday Wednesday and Friday. He is a Pleasant Grove High School graduate and served as a missionary in Colorado and Nebraska before a Coast Guard stint.
