Funeral services honored Mrs. Thorne wife of James D Thorne at Salt Lake Fourth Ward and Grove Second Ward. Respects from Pleasant Grove Firemen’s auxiliary read. speakers praised her as devoted mother and civic worker. Survivors include husband James D Thorne and three sons Wendell B Harold Ceril. seven Ellsworth brothers. Mr and Mrs Ray Pulley left for Fallon Nevada to settle.

Primary To Stage Spring Operetta in Manila Ward

The Manila ward Primary association presents a spring operetta tonight at 7 30 PM in the ward amusement hall. About 40 children from the Primary association will perform under the direction of Mrs Vergil Meredith Mrs Walter Hall and Mrs George Harris with the Primary teachers.

Sunday School Plans Easter Morning Service in Third Ward

Early Easter services will be held in the Third ward under Sunday School direction. The program begins at 7 a.m. with the public invited. Musical numbers are being arranged with Brigham Young University contributions, and dramatic pieces will be presented by local participants. Reed Crystal, superintendent, is coordinating the event.

Smith Elected To Head Wild Life Federation Here

LeRoy Smith was elected president of the Pleasant Grove Wildlife federation at a Thursday night meeting. New officers include Erving Johnson vice president Orson Lee secretary-treasurer and Reed Peterson Dick Walker Clifford Tomlinson Mayor A Sixirk and Isaac Hayes as directors. The group renamed from Pleasant Grove Fish & Game Protective association and affiliated with the Utah County Wildlife federation. It sponsored a motion picture show at Alhambra theatre Wednesday evening.

Last Rites For Lindon Resident Slated Sunday

Mrs Simo Sorensen Cobbiey died at her Lindon home after a three month illness. Born in Denmark June 12 1870 she married Martin Cobbley in Blackfoot Idaho in 1915. Surviving husband two brothers two sisters and several local Sorensen relatives. Funeral services Sunday at 2 pm in Linden L D S ward chapel with Bishop Leonard Walker officiating. Burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Wright Family Holds Reunion in Third Ward Hall

The John Wright family reunion drew about 200 attendees from within the state and other states on Saturday evening in the Third Ward amusement hall. The event included a program and a dance, described as successful and enjoyable. H. E. Johnson spent Friday in Salt Lake City on business at the State Hospital.

Pleasant Grove Social and Visiting Notes Highlight Local Life

Pleasant Grove residents and Utah State Agricultural College students are noted visiting and returning home for weekends. The community reports attending social events, church conferences in Salt Lake City, and family gatherings with many locals traveling to Ogden, Provo, American Fork, and Las Vegas for ceremonies, reunions, and fairs.

Pleasant Grove High School Orations Contest Highlights

Students at Pleasant Grove High School showcased orations with humor and drama in a contest sponsored by the debate and public speaking departments. Mary Burns won for dramatic readings, Cleora Wright for humor, Olive Adama also honored, and winners will compete at Brigham Young University. The Easter program featured "A Mountain Tragedy" and a talk by D K Harter on travels and war. G. Ariel Sharp will replace George Anderson as teacher, and Lions Club plans an April 12 opportunity program with boxing, wrestling, tumbling and a keynote by Dr Adam S. Benton.

Marriage of Margaret Stagg to Charles Harvey Hansen

Mr and Mrs William Stagg announce the marriage of their daughter Margaret to Charles Harvey Hansen of Salt Lake City. The wedding occurred March 25 in Utah. Both are Utah graduates and Mrs Hansen will teach PE at Tooele High School through year end, then move to Provo.

Pleasant Grove Lyceum Program Draws Student Interest

A Pleasant Grove high school lyceum program delighted students with Mr. Pollard’s portrayal of an old man Bennet and his daughter’s life makeover to a chauffeur’s life. The intramural tennis elimination finals conclude Friday April 7, with Coach Hillman selecting the team to face six other Region Three high schools.
