Pleasant Grove High Ninth Graders prepare a Freshman Frolic in the gym at 8:30 pm with the theme April Showers. Lorraine Herring and Karen Belliston lead decorations while Maurine Merrill and Pegsy Kirk arrange advertising and other activities with faculty advisors T. E. Rees Guy Hillman and Elden Westover. Burt Murdock's orchestra provides music.

Two Day Rodeo Set For June 16 17

Pleasant Grove announces a two day Strawberry Days Rodeo with shows on Thursday and Friday June 16 and 17. Schedules, chairmen S Christensen Paul Adamson LeRoy Thorne and secretary Robert Marrett lead the organizing committee meeting at City Hall. A planning session is set for Thursday April 7 at 8 pm. residents invited to contribute ideas.

Three Parking Areas Now Available for P G Shoppers

Pleasant Grove announces three off street free parking areas for shoppers. The Bank of Pleasant Grove lot west and south of the Ben Franklin Store and an east of Gaisford Pool Hall lot are now open. Business owners are urged to avoid parking on Main Street.

Merrill N. Warnick Re-elected to Head Dairy Association

Merrill N. Warnick was unanimously reelected president of the American Dairy Association for a second two year term at the Chicago convention held at the Knickerbocker Hotel. Lyman D. McKee of Madison was re elected vice president. Warnick reported 1954 milk and butter consumption rose nationwide with per capita gains and noted his 40 cow Holstein dairy operation run with the help of his sons.

Freeman Farm Buildings Are Being Replaced

A community effort led by William Freeman replaces farm buildings destroyed by fire on March 23. The Manila Ward and Timpanogos Stake Seventies plus many neighbors supply labor and materials for a 650 square foot dairy barn with milking setup and feed room. 4-H youths lay blocks under a local carpenter supervision as work begins on a farm equipment shed. Immunization clinic rescheduled to April 2 at Pleasant Grove City Hall 9 to 10 a.m.

Pleasant Grove Baseball Tryouts Slated For April Tuesday

Manager Loyd Shannon announced tryouts for Pleasant Grove's entry in the Utah Industrial League will begin Tuesday evening April 5 at 5 30 pm weather permitting and continue on Tuesdays and Fridays until further notice Invited are all Pleasant Grove area players The entry may also join the Central Utah League under the local Activities Association sponsorship Local sponsors Doug's Radio M and H Market offset costs as other leagues including Church Softball Little Leaguers Pony League and Industrial League promise a busy summer for local baseball fans.

At city hall on Wednesday night ex servicemen of Pleasant Grove discussed three ideas to honor veterans. Mayor Howard C. Roberts American Legion Commander Bill Peterson and VFW Commander Arlo Walker oversaw the process appointing chairs Karl Banks for library remodel Arlo Walker for gymnasium and Sam Green for swimming pool to report by April 26.

Jacqueline Jacobs Chosen Utah FFA Sweetheart

Jacqueline Jacobs daughter of Mr and Mrs Keith Jacobs of Manila was chosen Utah FFA Sweetheart at the annual convention in Salt Lake City. She is a junior at Pleasant Grove High School and won over 46 Sweethearts. Pleasant Grove chapter earned the Gold Emblem and a $200 award went to the boys for best chapter in Central Utah Region II. New officers were elected for the year beginning March 28: Gary Richins president Leon Gillman vice president Grant Nielsen secretary Gary Hunter treasurer Marion Johnson reporter Paul Gillman sentinel.

Pleasant Grove Seminary backs Brigham Young University presented comedy The Importance of Being Ernest on April 13 and 14. The farce centers on two lovers Jack and Algernon whose fiances refuse to wed anyone not named Ernest. Tickets 50 cents. proceeds aid a new room at the Seminary.

Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Jerse attended the Utah Canners annual convention at Hotel Utah from Thursday to Saturday. The event included business meetings a social gathering a Friday luncheon with Ute decorations a floor show by the Hawaiian Club from BYU led by Cleon Skousen and an elaborate banquet with Moor show and dancing. Daughter Hosts Party for Mother's 83rd Birthday
