Dunes Raid Seizes 4600 Pounds Marijuana Off Florida Coast
Customs and sheriff's deputies seized 4,600 pounds of marijuana valued at 4.5 million dollars as it was unloaded from a 66-foot shrimp boat in sand dunes along the Intracoastal Waterway near St Augustine Daytona Beach. Five men were arrested, two fled. The Syme had sailed from Jamaica, and agents say this capped a three month investigation. The raid halted the transfer to five camper vehicles and confiscated the shrimp boat and vehicles.
