Tyndall Spy Trial Postponed to July
The espionage trial of Walter T. Perkins at Tyndall Air Force Base in Northwest Florida is postponed again to July 18 at the defense request. Perkins, 37, formerly chief noncommissioned officer in charge of the Air Defense Warning Center, faces charges of unauthorized statements about classified documents and plans to pass them to unauthorized recipients. Military sources say the Air Force will argue Perkins intended to pass material to a Soviet embassy attache in Mexico City. Perkins is said to suffer from military alcoholic psychosis, a claim the defense notes. Perkins, a Perry, New York native, lists Palos Verdes, California as home.

Moonshine Stills Raided Near LaGrange. Two Arrested
State revenue agents and Troup County authorities raided and destroyed six illegal moonshine stills near LaGrange. Two men, Franklin Carl Maddox 31 of Alanta and Judge Hill Woodyard 40 of near LaGrange, were arrested. Units included five 800-gallon and one 600-gallon groundhog stills with 3,000 gallons of taxhash destroyed.
