Press Hosts Thunderbirds at North Florida Club Meeting

More than 100 people attended the North Florida Press Club gathering at the NCO Beach Club on Friday night. U S Air Force Thunderbird Lt Col Tom Swain led the team with Capt Bill Gregory and others while local officials and guests praised club hospitality and the venue move due to weather. A separate Chile quake report noted a six on the Mercalli scale near Quilcota and San Felipe, with shaking felt in Santiago and no serious damage or injuries.

Area Bands Score High In Contest

Okaloosa County high school bands delivered the best showing yet at the North State concert and stage band contest in Gainesville on the University of Florida campus. Crestview Fort Walton Beach and Choctawhatchee all earned superior ratings in concert band with Niceville at excellent. Choctawhatchee Crestview and Escambia High School all earned superior in stage band. judges included Long Powell Welch and McKeown.
