Cabinet OKs Freshmen Dorm Visitation Policy
Florida cabinet approves a policy allowing freshmen to visit other dorm rooms with parental consent required for those under 21. Dorms may designate areas without visitation and must vote two thirds to permit access. Visiting hours run 2 PM to 1 AM Sunday-Thursday and 2 PM to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Justice of the Peace dismissed charges against 13 Pensacola merchants including Mayor Eugene Elebash and Councilman Albert Klein over selling alleged alligator hide products. Hugh Morrow Jr. testified he did not attempt to bribe Escambia County Commissioner Sherman Barnes regarding a natural gas deal.

An Air Force 852 Stratofortress crashed at Griffiss Air Force Base during an approach in rain. Six crewmen from Griffiss escaped unharmed. the $8 million bomber sustained major damage and carried no weapons. Crew members listed with hometowns included Capt. Walter C. Miners Found Alive as Toll in Sunshine Mine Fire Reaches 47
