Supreme Court Rules Voting Rights Act Applies in Georgia
The Supreme Court ruled 6 to 3 that Georgia must submit a new House reapportionment plan under the Voting Rights Act. The decision bars any further elections until the state offers a plan acceptable to the Justice Department or gains a favorable declaratory judgment from the D C District Court. Justice Stewart says the act covers a broad range of voting law changes.

Taft-Dominick bill proposes four year minimum wage rise
Washington lawmakers Robert Taft Jr. and Peter Dominick introduced a bill to raise the minimum wage to 2.30 an hour over four years, covering nearly 5 million more workers including those in government. The plan starts at 1.80 within 60 days, then 2.00 2.20 and 2.30 in yearly steps. Agricultural workers would reach 1.50, 1.70, and 1.90 in the first three years, with youths under 16 and full-time students at 85 percent of the adult rate.

Mother Laments Need To Allow Son's Death

Daytona Beach police arrested David Otis Hester 17 for first degree murder in the death of Michael Ross Cochran at a devil worship ritual. John W.
