Chamber Honors Eglin Airman Of The Year Misener
Technical Sergeant James B. J. Misener received the Greater FWS Chamber of Commerce Airman of the Year award in a Wednesday ceremony. Misener, 14-year Air Force veteran and Chief of Maintenance at the 729 Tactical Control Squadron, was praised for taking on duties beyond his normal role and for community involvement. He and his family accepted gifts from chamber members and local businesses, plus a weekend at a hotel and various perks. Misener thanked the chamber and Eg lin officials and pledged to represent enlisted personnel from Eglin.

Deadline Near For Homestead Exemptions
In Fort Walton Beach area residents who have not filed for homestead exemptions have Thursday morning and Friday to file before the March 31 deadline. County Tax Assessor Rhett Cadenhead’s Okaloosa Island office closes Thursday afternoon with other county offices. First time filers should bring deed and voter or Florida car registration. Crestview courthouse office will be open all day Thursday and Friday to receive applications.

Airman found with gunwound after house fire
A-1C Joseph Baker of Hurlburt Field was found Wednesday morning with a bullet wound in his upper left leg after a house fire Monday at 6 Tradewinds Place. Deputy Sheriff Johnson said the Glock 38 went off accidentally as he reached for it from the floorboard. three bullet holes were in the car windows. Baker was treated at Eglin Hospital. his family had been staying with his wife and children at 1 Tradewinds Place since the blaze.
