The Northwest Florida Motorsports Club will hold a line-speed-distance rally this Sunday for beginners. Registration starts at 11 a.m. at the Gary Smith Ford lot with the first car departing at 1 p.m.
The Knights of Columbus St Marys Council No 4444 will hold a general meeting this evening at 7 o clock in the council home at 205 Carol Street Northwest A social program is set to begin at 8 pm All Catholic men interested in the K of C are urged to visit the council home.
The Fort Walton Beach Rotary Club will gather at noon today at the Sheraton Miramar. Oka Toosa County schools superintendent Max Bruner will address the club.
The County Extension Homemaker's Council sponsors a Safety Seminar today from 9 30 a m to noon at the George Mitchell Building Val paraiso. Topics include home traffic and personal safety with keynote Sgt Pfeiffer of Panama City focusing on traffic safety and driver license re examination. An Association of Retired Military Enlisted meeting follows at 7 30 p m at the American Legion on Hollywood Boulevard.
A Florida select Democratic committee backed allowing 18 year olds to serve as national convention delegates and party officers and to vote in all elections. They also proposed eliminating filing fees for delegate selection but did not decide how delegates will be chosen or when the 1972 presidential primary will be held.
Washington voters chose their first representative to Congress in a century with Rev. Walter E Fauntroy the front runner among six candidates. Nomination requires 40 percent with runoff possible if top contenders Nevius or Hobson justify it. The field includes Franklin Kameny and Douglas Moore among others.
Brian Faulkner pledged swift decisive action to restore confidence in Northern Ireland and unite the country against three years of sectarian violence. He warned that failure to pacify riot torn streets could lead to direct rule from London and vowed not to impose a punitive regime.

Key senators Buckley and others weigh votes as GOP leaders hedge on a near close four o clock Wednesday decision. Backers cite national prestige and jobs while opponents warn of pollution and health risks in a closely watched Senate vote likely to hinge on a few swing votes.
Fort Walton Beach council debated rezoning Lee Courter's property to remove residential restriction. Mrs. Clifford Stoner urged retaining residential status citing drainage and easement needs. Planning board favored approval but council paused first reading amid confusion over scope.
Niceville Senior High School principal Dolly Williams resigns effective June 30. County superintendent Max Bruner will recommend Williams for another county post. Williams, with 34 years in education, praises the Niceville staff and pledges to assist his successor.

A new open burning ban covers seven counties as residents set fires to clear debris, with 12 deliberate fires reported in Collier County.

Medina, commanding officer at My Lai under Lt. William Calley, faces pretrial hearings beginning in May. He is charged with premeditated murder of unidentified Vietnamese and assault with a dangerous weapon. The Army says the charges cover killings by his unit, not direct personal killings of 100 victims. He is also charged with personally killing two people.
NICEVILLE The city designates Saturday April 3 as its annual clean up day and urges residents to spruce up property. Civic groups pick vacant areas for projects and organizations may join. City crews operate two trash trucks from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents may call 678 4523 or 678 1414 for pickup, leaves must be bagged or boxed. Old furniture and cars will be collected.
Gov Roubin Askew announced five appointments to the Escambia County Jury Commission on Tuesday. Reappointed was C Milton Smith of Pensacola and named to succeed Emerson Bonner was Pete Geeker of Pensacola.
