The Fort Walton Beach Rotary Club will hold a noon meeting at the Sheraton Miramar. The Madrigals of Chee tawhatchee High School will perform as the program. All visiting Rotarians are welcome.
The Playground Corvette Club will meet tonight at 6 30 at Preston Hood Chevrolet for a gathering and discussion of club activities.
The Board of Directors of the Okaloosa Island Authority will meet Thursday at noon in the authority conference room. The session will review the plans and development committee report on Victor Andersons request to locate a boat on his property.
Martin J Bromley named as head of an international slot machine syndicate boasting up to 100 million in ten years swore he offered no 50000 bribe to silence Army general Earl F Cole. Bromley said he was in Spain during the alleged offer and denied meeting Cole.

County officials heard Air Force backed plan to abandon the original Eglin terminal site for a new tract 740 feet east citing greater expansion room and easier access. The board also considered tap-ins to Air Force light, sewer and water facilities and evaluated a proposal for a Destin Airport fixed base operation with 60 aircraft, 2 full time instructors, a $100000 hangar and new facilities. Commissioners asked for study and recommendations from Dee Parkton and Jere Tolson.
The Florida Cabinet unanimously rejected Aerojet General’s settlement offer involving 1,700 acres for a buffer zone and a $100,000 bonus, combatting a 1961 lease purchase tied to 25,000 acres. Atty. Gen. Shevin urged fighting the pending appeal, noting the state’s risk limited to the $100,000 while the land-use obligations remain.

Deputies said she lived alone at 945 Carlos Drive, had a 16 year old daughter, and her ex husband was believed to be in California. Coroner Justice of the Peace Howard Gill aided the case.
Okaloosa County commissioners create a District Four park and recreation board to coordinate beautification and programs with reports to the commission. They reject a second ordinance as too broad and not legal, expect rewrites after anti-pollution talks.
Merrill County Commission Chairman Van Merrill told the county board that he urged a County Government and Taxation sub committee to tax Okaloosa Island Authority property like other land. He cited large exempt lands including Eglin and Blackwater Forest and said taxing the Island Authority could yield 400,000 for the School Board and 247,160 for the county. A full committee meeting is set for March 29 with attendance sought from school and county officials. A court case on abolishing the Island Authority is pending.
