A federal grand jury indicted 31 persons on civil disorder conspiracy burglary and larceny charges in the Wounded Knee seizure near Pine Ridge. Indictments announced in Sioux Falls came as snowstorms thwarted negotiations and blocked aid to AIM loyalists and villagers. Dennis Banks dismissed the move as government discrediting the siege.
