Train and Truck Collide Near Hortense Ga Derail Auto-Train
A truck hauling 26 tons of logs hit a speeding Auto-Train with 200 passengers at a foggy Georgia crossing. The collision derailed 27 cars, killed the truck driver, and sent about two dozen passengers to hospitals, four admitted. A fire from an engine spread to a nearby forest before being put out. The Auto Train ran from Lorton Virginia to Sanford Florida. Passengers reported an incredible vibration as cars rolled on the tracks and some of the 108 autos on the rail cars were damaged or scattered.

Viet Cong POWs To Be Freed
Washington releases list of 27 military prisoners and five civilians to be freed by the Viet Cong in Hanoi. Names include Army CWO Francis Gene Anton of Willingboro NJ and Marine Capt. Bruce Archer of Rochester NY, with hometowns listed for most others and several tied to California, New York, and Illinois. The five civilians are Pacific Architects and Engineers staffers and a State Department officer among Hue captives from February 1968.
