Florida teachers unions say about 9,000 teachers remained out as the statewide strike ended. In Dade County all 9,000 returned, while about 40 counties still held out over rehiring principals and administrators who joined the walkout. Some districts turned returning teachers away or had them fired amid court injunctions.
