Deacon Courtney Craighead cites arson as cause after a blaze in a fringe New Orleans bar kills 29 and injures 15 in under a quarter hour. Police probe, witnesses questioned, burglars bars blocked exits, investigators search for clues about possible arson and prior fights.
Governor Berkin Askew signed a new drug penalty bill boosting heroin selling penalties from five to thirty years and offering first time users probation or rehab a chance to erase records.
