Plane crashes in Miami street kill 11 passengers

A DC4 cargo plane attempting to return to Miami International Airport with an engine on fire crashed into a busy, building-lined street. At least 11 people were killed, including four crew members and seven on the ground, with about a dozen more injured. casualty details include two teen boys and several bystanders and motorists. Red guns pound Ben Het camp in South Vietnam overnight

Overnight shelling and a ground attack targeted the Ben Het Special Forces camp in the central highlands near the Laos border. US spokesmen report heavy fire as 14 enemy fighters were killed at the camp edge, with one American dead and six wounded. Helicopter gunships aided the defense, while civilian casualties were light.

City Halts Drainage Pipe Work Over Flood Threat

Fort Walton Beach officials paused drainage pipe installation in an open ditch south of Fort Walton Square after a flood risk warning. Square owner JD Godwin had offered to share costs and provide pipe, but the council rejected the deal, citing policy. Soon after, Ghanna County Commissioners voted to supply the pipe for Godwin.

Shrine Circus at Fort Walton Beach lights up two shows today

The Clyde Brothers Shrine Circus performs two shows at 2:30 and 8:00 pm at Fort Walton Beach Memorial Stadium Choctawhatchee High School. Elephants Ruth Mars and Sue and aerial acts including Hungary's Halassers highlight the program. Capt Barradas Cage of Furs brings 19 years of ring experience. Free tickets for the afternoon show were distributed through the school system for underprivileged children.

Materials available for new fish havens

Chamber of Commerce report notes barge loads of materials ready once permission is received from the Army Corps of Engineers by July 3. Four havens planned south of Eglin and north of Destin, using old debris and rubble to form protective sites that attract mollusks and sport fish.
