Five Year Old Boy Hero Rescues Brother At Eglin Dock
Richard A Gilchrist, two year old son of SSgt H L Gilchrist, nearly drowned at a boat dock near his home at Eglin AFB. Five year old Holst Barnett, who cannot swim, pulled him from shoulder depth water. Sharon Bright aided with mouth to mouth as Richard revived then lost consciousness. Mrs Gilchrist rushed him to a neighbor’s, then to USAF hospital where he was checked and released.

A 16 year old, Stevens R. Kirkpatrick, was found with a bullet wound to the right chest at his home near Hurlburt Field. He was listed in fair condition at Eglin AFB Hospital.
