In Laos near the Rolovens Plateau two Air Force pilots Maj. Samuel R. Roff and 1st Lt. Arthur L. Moxon were rescued after their OV10 forward air control plane was hit. Two HH-3 or HH-53 style rescue helicopters on airborne alert fought through monsoon rain and enemy fire to extract them with the help of sandys escorts. The pilots described a perilous bailout and survival in jungle terrain aided by a ground radio link and parachute rescue teams.
