Okaloosa County faces higher tax bills as property values jump to 100 percent of market value. Hardest hit are undeveloped acreage and waterfront properties. Net real property valuation rises to 280 million dollars, up 73 percent from last year, with ad valorem taxes expected to total over 2 million even if budgets stay the same.

Tringas funds a goodwill mission to major European capitals and cities including Moscow Leningrad Prague Stockholm and other centers in Sweden the Soviet Union Czechoslovakia and East and West Germany. He says the trip aims to improve U S relations and show freedom democracy as the best way of life for all people. He cites President Eisenhower on the value of citizen diplomacy and notes the tour’s slogan Understanding Between People Is The Passport to Peace.
Eight student nurses were killed in a mass slaying in Chicago. Police and the FBI hunted a likely white male killer described as about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. A lone survivor, Amarao of the Philippines, provided a vague description as investigators pursue a possible sex motive and further questioning of suspects including a former mental patient from Philadelphia.
