In Destin Pass a 6 year old boy Wyatt Horn drifted out of his depth and was rescued by Destin Marina manager Ned Sarven and retired firefighter Arlo Stoltenberg. The boy revived after Stoltenberg performed artificial respiration and was treated at Fort Walton Beach Hospital with no apparent injuries.

Death Penalty Session Postponed to November
Gov. Reubin Askew will not call a special session on capital punishment. The matter will be referred to the regular reorganizational session in November with a study commission to review the Supreme Court decision and possible crimes warranting death penalties. The commission will be named next week and report by Nov 21.

Foreign Coins Stolen From Silver Sands
Foreign coins from France Mexico Panama and Austria were reported stolen from the Silver Sands display board by Ray McCollough Monday morning. He said the coins were missing at 8 15 a m and the Fort Walton Beach Police Department handled the case. Entry was gained through the bathroom window in the rear of the building. Officer Nick DeCaprio is the investigating officer.

The blaze reported at 3 am in the flag officer area burned until 11 am and caused no known structural damage.
