VE W Post 774 organizes a memorial dinner for Randy Mathews killed in a motorcycle accident. A chicken dinner is served 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 203 Carol Ave with prices Adults 1 dollar and children 40 cents. Proceeds go to the Mathews family. An organizational meeting for a rock collector club is set for Monday at 7 p.m. at Krdinger Kennels Fort Walton Beach. Call 242-2564 for details.
The Valparaiso Elementary School PTA sponsors a chicken dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the school cafetorium. Carry out dinner boxes are available. Donations are $1.25 for adults and 75 cents for children.

Okaloosa County enforces a dog control resolution under a nine month contract with the Humane Society of Fort Walton Beach. The society will impound dogs found in public places and unvaccinated dogs, with fines for interference, and will provide shelter, care, and monthly reports.

In Harrisburg a Roman Catholic priest, Rev. J. William Michelman of Baltimore, was ordered to testify before a grand jury investigating an alleged bomb kidnapping plot. The judge rejected a shield claim over confessional secrecy, noting the issue was not the seal of confession.quot.
Amateur Radio Public Service Corps AREC units in Fort Walton Beach join a simulated emergency test to verify the Community Emergency Plan. Mobile and fixed stations link local to national networks with Civil Defense and Red Cross coordination. Operators practice city state and federal message exchanges via the National Traffic System and AREC systems.

Congressman Hob Sikes said the President will include Army Corps of Engineers requests totaling 470,000 for operation and maintenance of last paths at Didan and 14,000 for general investigations of the Choctawhatchee River. Funds allocated for use in INF2, Sikes noted.
