South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu, in a nationwide broadcast at cease-fire start, warned the Communists will violate the cease-fire and said South Vietnam must defend itself. He urged public cooperation with police and cited dangerous areas while arguing only locals can guarantee peace.
American soldiers in South Korea welcomed the Vietnam cease fire signing, though some said it came late. Pvt. Jerry Parsons and Pvt. John Lowries voiced mixed views on U.S. involvement and troop withdrawals as 2nd Infantry Division units at Camp Casey and Panmunjom reflect on the global and domestic implications amid the last Korea border clash history.

Public Defender James Ron Shelley announces a fully staffed office in Fort Walton Beach and hires William N. Jones as a fulltime investigator. The office serves citizens unable to afford private counsel and reflects two thirds of Okaloosa County's criminal caseload concentrated in the Fort Walton Beach area. It is located at 204 A Eglin Parkway.

Florida state Representative Jere Tolton urges the West Florida delegation to push for fewer, more deliberate bills. He proposes considering new measures only every other year to allow review of laws already in place and reduce loopholes and rushed amendments.
