A weekend spate of fires across the nation left 38 dead or missing. In Rutland, Wisconsin a 6 year old landmark hotel and five businesses were destroyed. 100 people were evacuated and firefighters rescued many from upper floors. In Kerhonkson New York seven resort workers died with several others hospitalized. Sioux Falls Laurel and Laurel Md and other towns reported additional fatalities as families faced losses.
