New Year Holiday Traffic Toll Seen Well Below Last Year

As a weekend of mixed weather dampened travel Americans faced a slower death pace on highways during the first half of the holiday period. The count stood at least 145 killed since the holiday began, with California leading at 18 deaths and Michigan Texas Ohio New York Pennsylvania and Nebraska also reporting multiple fatalities.

OWSC Begins Registration for 1968 Winter Semester

Valparaiso registration for 1968 winter semester college credit courses at Okaloosa Walton Junior College runs January 2 to 4 with a three day schedule. Sophomores register January 2, freshmen January 3, new students January 4. Classes start January 5. Registration hours are 8:30 to 12, 2 to 4, and 6 to 8. Truce Violations Spark Saigon Fighting Across Vi etnam

U S. and allied forces see renewed combat as 36 hour truce to pray for peace is violated by Viet Cong and North Vietnamese units. In events near Saigon 11 Americans die in ambushes as two platoons of the Six U S Division are attacked. Helicopter units sustaining South Vietnamese troops experience losses including a mercy flight crash. Aerial battles over the DMZ see an Air Force F100F shot down with both aircrew rescued. The clash marks the most intense fighting since Christmas truce and precedes the New Year cease fire.

Miller Qualifies for City Commissioner Election

Sanctions Gain In Power In Florida Education Fight
