Los Angeles AP report describes the first portion of closing arguments in the Sharon Tate murder trial. The State seeks first degree murder verdicts against Charles Manson and three co-defendants. Bugliosi portrays Manson as dictator of a clan that carried out savage killings.
Investigations continue into two break ins in Crestview reported by Chelf D F White. The apothecary on East Woodruff Avenue and Junior Food Store on North Ferdon Boulevard were entered early Saturday with a glass door breached. A cash register was knocked over but $105 and drawer cash were not missing. a cigarette carton and 12 gauge shells were taken from the second store. Blood and fingerprints trail from the counter to the parking lot. Officers include Richard J Trent James Thomas Charlie Conyers and Daniel M Paige.
The SS Sea wise University at Chapman College plans to convert the retired liner Queen Elizabeth into an international education ship. World Campus Afloat will offer five annual semesters starting fall 1971 with liberal arts and training for students nationwide and abroad. Port Everglades will house initial passenger accommodations as programs grow.
Army officials continue probing the murders of Capt. Jeffrey MacDonald’s wife and two daughters. They also review how five senior officers handled an earlier probe after MacDonald, once charged, was cleared due to insufficient evidence. The case remains open as investigators seek the killer or killers.
