Belfast children in combat jackets and toy rifles staged a mock ambush of a British patrol. No injuries occurred as the soldiers held their fire. The incident followed a sniper firing at troops and a bus bombing in County Tyrone, with hunger strikes in internment camps and a Christmas display by the army.
About 30 Vietnam Veterans Against the War picketed Rev. Carl McIntyre’s church in Collingswood New Jersey then attended Christmas services. McIntyre urged a victory in Asia while veterans prepared to join an encampment at Valley Forge Pennsylvania with leaders hoping for about 1,000 participants by New Year’s.
A bomb exploded outside Benito Mussolini’s tomb in Predappio before dawn Saturday, tearing the mausoleum door. A two story warehouse fire in the 1300 block of Dryades Street in New Orleans turns deadly when part of a brick front wall collapses killing George E. Forstall Anton Puderer and William Aymant and injuring 15 others as smoke and ashes fill the scene and responders work amid a spreading blaze.
Everett Leary Holt, 25, held in Chicago on charges of attempting a 300000 dollar ransom hijack of a Northwest Airlines Boeing 707 on Christmas Eve. He surrendered to FBI at O’Hare after a five hour standoff. one passenger and six crew injured. Holt to be arraigned in federal court Monday.
