Inflation eased during Nixon wage freeze period in four months
The government reported a 0.2 percent rise in the CPI for November, matching October as inflation declined more than half during the 90 day wage-price freeze. The rise stemmed from property taxes and home goods while gasoline and used cars posted declines. The annual rate for August through November fell to 1.7 percent, compared with 4.1 percent in the prior six months. Labor Secretary Hodgson said the 1.7 percent rate showed the freeze was effective.

Foreign Debt Figures Released by Treasury

Second Bomb Threat Evacuates Hospital in Niceville
NICEVILLE The second bomb threat in three weeks forced an evacuation of Niceville Valparaiso Hospital Wednesday afternoon. A caller described a bomb set to explode at 3 p.m. and left the line. patients were moved outside during a search by deputies and cleared at 3:40 p.m. Earlier Dec 1 threat led to evacuations of psychiatric and medical wards with patients relocated to local schools and Fort Walton Beach Hospital before clearance at 9:30 a.m. Police could not confirm if the same caller was involved.
