Weather Outlooks Expanded by National Weather Service
The National Weather Service plans six to 10 day weather outlooks issued three times weekly. Chief James Andrews says predictions should be right seven to ten times out. The outlooks cover five day periods, not specific days, and give average temperature and precipitation, bridging short and long range forecasts. An experimental five day outlook for Dec 23 suggested above normal temperatures from the Rockies to the East Coast and normal temps on the West Coast with above normal precipitation in the West.
