Fort Walton Beach police chief Ralph Hendrix warns shoplifting rises during Christmas with losses projected to reach six million dollars this year. Stores may raise prices to offset losses and require bag and package checks as thieves work in crowds and among juveniles and well off suspects.

Airman First Class Dennis H. Pearson, 22, of the 410th Maintenance Squadron at Hurt, was found dead beside his motorcycle near a utility pole in Mary Esther early Monday. He apparently struck a mailbox before crashing. death presumed instantaneous. Survived by his wife Ruthie and parents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pearson of Hamilton, Ohio. Funeral plans pending in Hamilton.
The Fort Walton Beach mayor and council announce a one week time change to 5:30 p m for this week only. The Dec 26 meeting is postponed to January and Tuesday night will be the last council session of 1966.
Crestview police say 46 year old James Junior Ramsay was arrested Monday for the murder of Lonie May Thomas 42 who was shot at her Crestview home with a .32 caliber pistol. Sheriff Ray Wilson said Ramsay is charged with first degree murder as investigators and Crestview police chief William Latham coordinated the case.
The Fort Walton Beach Finance Committee voted to authorize the city manager to locate a suitable site for a four building YMCA project, with about five acres on Hollywood Boulevard near Robinwood Drive. The panel also discussed occupational licenses for firms with city offices but work elsewhere, proposing separate license categories and regular reviews after the holidays. An extension of a $20 note to Mrs. Dale Moon for street construction was approved for two years at four percent interest.
Dr Milton Helpern, noted pathologist, testified in New Jersey on evidence surrounding William E Farber's 1965 death. The commission also schedules a general election for two seats on Jan 10, 1967 with candidate qualification December 12 through December 31, 1966. Owning and GW Mitchell have qualified.
