A Sunday morning tornado struck Fort Walton Beach and the Playground area injuring 17 and causing multi million dollars in damage. A three year old, Joann Coker, suffered a fractured skull and was hospitalized at Eglin Air Force Hospital. A Saturday two car collision on Highway 85 ten miles south of Crestview killed Hubert Starke Gandy 45 of DeFuniak Springs Airman First Class Richard Lee Coleman 23 and his wife Judy E Coleman about 20 of Shrewsbury West Virginia. Marshall Martin 53 of Florala Alabama was injured. Gandy driving south crossed the centerline into Coleman's northbound car. Martin’s vehicle sustained $350 damage. Investigating troopers were F L Mills and J L Hunt.
