Kennedy Jr. Fined for Loitering in Barnstable Court

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 17, appeared in Barnstable District Court and pleaded no contest to sauntering and loitering. He was fined 50 dollars in court costs and given one week to pay after stating he had no money.

Bolivia Junta crackdown on La Paz students after coup

In La Paz the new Bolivian regime used troops with bazookas and machine guns and a fighter plane to crush student protests. At least four students died and 14 were wounded as hundreds were detained. The cabinet met and Finance Minister Raul Lema Pelaez pledged support for private investment to lift Bolivia from underdevelopment. President Hugo Banzer promised elimination of left and right as political labels.

Eglin Copter Downed in Gulf Crew Rescued by Boat

An Eglin AFB UH-1 helicopter operating near Destin Gulf of Mexico about five miles south of Santa Rosa Island ditched. Maj. David E. Vaughn and Maj. Ronald R. Kunz were rescued by a Little Rock boat crew led by J C Anderson and later transferred to an Eglin rescue helicopter for observation. The two officers were reportedly uninjured and undergoing further testing. A shore witness, Frances Calva, recounted the moment the helicopter landed with a big splash and the tail flipping upward as the crew was saved. An investigation by a board of officers will determine the accident cause.

Hit and Run Involves 14 Year Old Girl On Willams Avenue

Police describe a late Monday afternoon hit and run that injured 14 year old Becky J. Coffel of 120 Rainbow Drive near Willams Avenue. The driver, a middle aged woman in a green car, stopped briefly then fled the scene. Coffel was treated at Eglin AFB hospital as the investigation continues.

Auditor Reports Account Differences At Fort Walton Beach Hospital

Auditor William Fletcher told VALPARISO area advisors that an audit report likely by September is delayed due to out of balance accounts at Fort Walton Beach Hospital. Receivables exceed by about ten thousand dollars and payables are off by roughly four thousand, caused by ledger posting gaps and card separation amid annex relocation and personnel changes. He urged stricter internal controls and numbered receipts to enable tracing. The board reviewed contracts with a radiologist, inhalation system and X ray equipment leases.
