Teenager Shot Left For Dead After Yosemite Night Attack
A 17 year old schoolgirl near Yosemite National Park was shot four to five times and found near death. Her boyfriend Timothy Luce, also 17, was later found murdered in a vineyard 20 miles away. Susan Bartolomeo, conscious in Sonora, described being kidnapped by two men who picked them up. Jamestown hotel registers list John and Mike Ford as guests, later identified as Thomas Brown and Leonard Byrne Maine, both 18. Sheriff Lt. Robert Andee said the car had Oregon plates and a pistol was found in the hotel room. The two youths were shot with .22 caliber bullets and the boyfriend died after being run over. The case is under investigation in Tuolumne County.
