13-Year-Old Shot While Fleeing Arrest in Florida
In Tarpon Springs Florida the Pinellas County State Atty James Russell said evidence indicates justifiable homicide in the shooting death of 13 year old James Thomas Arnold by a deputy who said the teen fled a nighttime breaking and entering call. The officer ordered him to halt fired a warning shot and then shot the teen in the lower spine. A second 13 year old fleeing youth was stopped by a tree and handed to juvenile authorities. No action is planned against the deputy, Dennis Bender. The case awaits a justice of the peace determination on a coroner s inquest.
