Porpoise trainer shot during Gulfarium incident
Randal Hale, a 24 year old Gulfarium trainer, was rushed to Baptist Hospital after a pistol was discharged in a so called Russian roulette at the Gulfarium. Jondal Deck Ward of Green Acres Road in Wright sustained a bullet wound in the head and was taken to Fort Walton Beach Hospital before transfer to Baptist in Pensacola. Brain tumor cited in Whitman slayings at UT Tower
Authorities reported a pecan sized brain tumor in Charles Joseph Whitman which they say could have contributed to his impulse to kill. The 25 year old former altar boy killed his wife and mother before dawn and then fatally shot 13 more from the University of Texas tower in Austin before police shot him.

Beach Buggy Crashes Into Lincoln in Fort Walton Beach
Fort Walton Beach Police reported an accident where a 1952 Beach Buggy swerved to the wrong side and struck a newer Lincoln Continental. The Beach Buggy had about $15 damage, while the Continental incurred about $200 in dents. An eyewitness joked the older car sought revenge to level the score.

Still Found Owners Gone In Copper Moonshine Raid
A 100 gallon sold copper moonshine still and components were discovered in a private residence three miles north of Baker during a raid by state beverage agents and the county sheriff. The occupants fled. warrants were issued for their arrest. Eight 55 gallon drums and five 535 gallon water barrels were found in the house. authorities say the still had been in use recently.
