Four local graduates and a banker receive top state and national FFA honors. Johnny McCullough and Hans Spies, 1976 graduates, earn Lone Star Farmer Degrees, Michael Covey receives the American Farmer Degree, and David B. McCall gets the Honorary Lone Star Farmer Degree for adult supporters. Covey farms in the area.

State and national awards go to McCall and two Plano area FFA leaders for extensive farming program work and leadership. McCall earns American Farmer Degree with gold key and certificate after state and chapter recognition, while McCullough and Spies receive Lone Star Farmer designation for three years of study and leadership. They were honored at the State FFA Convention and scheduled for Area Conventions in October. McCall is to be additionally honored at Area V. The Plano chapter nominated McCall for outstanding FFA service with broad county support.
